“The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak
I watched this movie before I read the book and it was very good. It’s one of the only book and movie I’ve watched that are almost the same. I will admit, I did cry during the movie and while reading the book. It is an amazing story of a girl who loses her brother and is given away by her mother. She has to try to fit in with her new parents in a completely different community. It does take place in the mid-1900’s when Adolf Hitler was killing the Jewish people. When I read this book it really got to me feeling wise. I tried to put myself in Liesel’s, the main character, shoes. I really felt bad for all the Jewish people who got killed during that time because they didn’t deserve to die like that. After I finished reading the book I recommended it to my friend and she read it. I asked her how it was and she said the same thing that I said. It definitely got me to change my view of people. I use to judge people based on how they look or act and I’m not afraid to admit that I did that. After reading that book and thinking about it, I realized that it is what’s on the inside that matters. If I had to give this book stars out of five, I’d give it a six. I do recommend that you read it even if you don’t like Hitler because it is a great book to read. It’s one of my top five favorites and that’s saying something because I have at least two hundred great books!
